Comanche releases guidelines for winter sports attendance

October 29, 2020

With the approaching winter sports seasons, Comanche Public Schools has released the following guidelines. Noteworthy guidelines include a 65% seating capacity cap, mandatory face coverings and social distancing. Failure to follow guidelines could lead to a smaller number of spectators allowed in events.

Below is the complete statement:

Comanche Public Schools COVID-19 Indoor Guidelines

(Basketball, Wrestling, etc)

The goal of the guidelines is to keep students/staff healthy to allow for continuing in-person education and participation in activities. These guidelines were derived in conjunction with the Lake Country Conference members. These are different guidelines for indoor activities versus our outside activities. There will currently be limitations placed on the number of spectators in attendance.

Crowd Participation

Basketball High School Events

Seating at Comanche home high school basketball events in the Tommy Weast Gymnasium will be limited to 65% capacity to allow for social distancing. This percentage is contingent on attendees wearing masks. If guidelines are not being followed the percent of capacity will be lowered.

Each CPS participant in (Players, Coaches, and Cheerleaders) will receive 4 tickets per event. These tickets will ensure their guests are allowed to purchase a ticket into the game. This amount is contingent on the capacity of staying at 65%. Tickets will be distributed through the coaching staff two days prior to the event.

Athletes are responsible to see that the tickets make it to their guests. The remaining capacity will be sold on a first come first serve basis. Once the remaining tickets are sold the gym will be closed to anyone else entering. Passes will be honored if the pass holder has a player ticket or capacity limits have not been met. Persons holding a player ticket will still be required to purchase a ticket to enter at normal event prices.

In accordance with Lake Country Conference recommendations, CPS will allocate 140 tickets to visiting teams for their disbursement. Only visitors who have the player tickets will be allowed to pay or show their pass to enter. Visiting teams will have an area roped off in the visiting section for their team who is not currently playing to sit away from the visiting fans. Only home cheerleaders will be allowed to cheer.
