Comanche set to host softball regional

Comanche is hosting the Class 3A Region 2 softball tournament today (Wednesday) and Thursday. The Lady Indians will welcome Bethel, Chisholm and Jones to the Field of Dreams.

Tickets are $7 for adults and students for each session. Each day of the tournament will be considered a session. Tickets are being sold online only and can be purchased at www.ossaa.com. No tickets will be sold at the gate.

Comanche opens the tournament against Jones at noon on Wednesday. That game will be followed by Bethel and Chisholm at 2 p.m. The losers of those two games will play an elimination round at 4 p.m. The winners of the first two games will meet at 6 p.m. with the winner advancing to the championship game on Thursday at 2 p.m., which will be preceded by an elimination game at noon.

Comanche Lady Indians

Regional Seed: 1 (Winner of 3A District 2)

Head Coach: Aaron Minor

Record: 21-10

Last 10: 9-1

Noteworthy: The Lady Indians have won nine straight, including wins over Stephens County rivals Duncan and Marlow.

Chisholm Lady Longhorns

Regional Seed: 2 (Runner-up in 3A District 1)

Head Coach: Kevin Burns

Record: 21-12

Last 10: 7-3

Noteworthy: Chisholm tied Perry in the top of the final district standings with 10-2 records, but Perry got the tiebreaker on point differential.

Bethel Lady Wildcats

Regional Seed: 3 (No. 4 in 3A District 4)

Head Coach: Tara Satterwhite

Record: 7-14

Last 10: 5-5

Noteworthy: All seven of Bethel’s wins were in 3A District 4 games, where they went 7-5.

Jones Lady Longhorns

Regional Seed: 4 (No. 4 in 3A District 3)

Head Coach: Jessica Clemons

Record: 18-13

Last 10: 5-5

Noteworthy: Jones defeated Bethel twice during the regular season. Those games are the only ones any of the teams have played against each other.
