Jimmie Pat Sanders

Jimmie Pat “Jim” Sanders, age 81, a longtime resident of Comanche, passed away on Thursday morning, Jan. 20, 2022 in Meridian. A funeral service was held Monday at Patterson Avenue Baptist Church, with Pastor Billy Morgan officiating, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Interment followed at Fairlawn Cemetery.

Jim was born March 28, 1940 in Stringtown, OK to James J. and Lara Lou (Newson) Sanders. Jim moved to Comanche in 1962 from eastern Oklahoma. He and Peggy Myers were united in marriage on August 9, 1963 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Jim was an excellent paint and body man, and owned his own business for many years. He served for many years on the Comanche City Council, and also served as Mayor of Comanche. His hobbies included fly fishing, taking his grandkids hunting, and working on cars. Jim enjoyed drinking coffee every morning with his friends at the store. His constant companion was his dog, “Butch”.

He is survived by his son, Greg Sanders, Comanche; two daughters: Tammie Cruz, Comanche, and Shirley Morhet and husband Eric, Houston, Texas; one brother, Scott Ishmael, Texas; three sisters: Syble Brooks and husband Billy, Oklahoma; Margaret Garner and husband Roy, Texas; and Pam Marley, Oklahoma; one brother in law, Gary Myers, and one sister-in-law, Barbara Gray; his grandchildren: James Davis and wife Kayla; Aaron Davis and wife Sydney; Marissa Moore and husband Steven;  Allison Young and husband Yancy; James Sanders, Kenneth Pintor, Kyle Pintor, and Erica Morhet;  Also, his great-grandchildren: Ryan, Avery, Alisa, Jordan, Kaleb, Annabelle, Paxton, Aria, Da’eLynn, Thomas, Bentlii, Ozeke, Amayah, Sky, Avery, and Dominik, Josie, and Jessie; and numerous other relatives and close friends.

Serving as pallbearers were James Davis, Aaron Davis, Yancy Young, Kaleb Davis, Ryan Barrington, Avery Davis, Jordan Davis, Paxton Davis, and Irvin Miler.
