Billy A. Hedrick

March 30, 2022

Billy A. Hedrick, 73, was born Nov. 10, 1948, in Duncan to Billie A. and Peggy Lue (Smith) Hedrick. He passed away on March 18, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones, in Oklahoma City.

Services were March 25 at New Hope Baptist Church West with Pastor Randy Southerland officiating. Interment followed in Duncan Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home.

Billy graduated from Comanche High School in 1966 where he played basketball. He then attended Cameron University where he received a Bachelor’s degree. On April 9, 1976, he married Diana Kay Andrews at Duncan.

He worked in exploration and production management in various locations with Skelly, Getty, Texaco and Chevron Oil Companies. He retired from Chevron in Velma after 33 years. He also owned Edgewood Convenience Store in Comanche for 8 years.

Billy and his wife, Diana, enjoyed raising black Angus cattle, where studying genetics, planning bloodlines, and raising healthy, gentle cattle in a natural setting was a blessing to them. He played sports from childhood to adulthood. As an adult, Bill became a competitive runner and was honored to become one of the torch-bearers to participate in the Torch Relay Run across Oklahoma when the Olympics were held in the USA. He was passionate about OU football and looked forward to the college season each year. He was so proud when his grandson, Blake, learned to love basketball and running like his grandpa. As a teenager, he volunteered at the Duncan Boy’s Club; as an adult in Stephens County, he was a member and director of Duncan Jaycees, served on the board of Duncan Group Homes, volunteered at Duncan Kiddieland, and was a director or the Stephens County Livestock Association. He was a lifetime encourager of youth and adults. He was a loyal friend. He cherished his Christianity and shared his beliefs with others. He loved his family and always wanted to be remembered as the best husband, father, grandfather, brother and son.

Preceded in death by his parents, Bill is survived by his wife, Diana; daughter, Jenna Foster and husband Rand of Edmond; grandson, Blake Foster; brother, Terry Lynn Hedrick and wife Wendy of Duncan; and nephews, Brad and Bryan Hedrick and their families, all of Duncan.
