Dorothy Faye Whitfield

Dorothy Faye Whitfield, age 90, a longtime Stephens County resident, peacefully entered into her Heavenly home, on Saturday evening, April 16, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her family. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 21st at 10:00 a.m. at Praise Assembly Of God Church, with Warren Harkins and Wade Payton officiating. Interment will follow at Addington Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Viewing will be Wednesday from 9:00-7:00, with the family receiving friends from 5:00-7:00.

Dorothy was born November 23, 1931 in Addington, OK to Wylie O. and Sarah E. (Barton) Pitts. She and Jack Whitfield were united in marriage on March 1948 at Comanche. They made their home in California, Washington, and Texas before returning to this area. She was a faithful member of Praise Assembly Of God Church. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, baking, reading, and working crossword puzzles. She dearly loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by five children: Karin Myer, Oklahoma City, OK; Jack Whitfield Jr. and wife Gail, Centralia, WA; Sherry Franks and husband Steve, Ardmore, OK; James “Lynn” Whitfield and wife Sharon, Loco, OK; and Larry Whitfield and wife Carmen, Comanche, OK; three brothers: Verdell Pitts and wife Susie; David Pitts, and Emzla Pitts and wife Tracy; two sisters: Francine Andelohr, and Janice Walker; a former daughter in law, Linda Rice; eleven grandchildren: Fred Myer, Faye Trostle and husband Bill, James Whitfield Jr and wife Melissa, Matthew Frank and wife Kimmy, Michael Whitfield and wife Michelle, Jack Franks and wife Megumi, Larry Whitfield and wife Toni Jo, Zenna Lewis, Melissa Rose, Stephanie Dery and husband Brad, and Tony Whitfield and wife Kelsi; also, 47 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Jack; one son, Charles Whitfield; her parents, Wylie and Sarah Pitts; three siblings, Kenneth Pitts, Lena Scott, and Wylie Pitts; and one granddaughter, Wendy Palmer.

Grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.
