Busy week for cross country

The Comanche cross country teams ran two races in five days last week. On Tuesday, they ran at Walters and then went to the pre-state meet in Edmond on Saturday.

Tuesday, the Comanche boys finished sixth as a team. Landon Ellis led the way for the Indians with a second-place finish with a time of 18:27.66, just over two seconds behind the winner from Merritt.

Austin James was next for Comanche as he finished 50th with a time of 24:33.87, followed closely by Jaxson Billingsley in 52nd place with a time of 25:08.55. Owen Bigford finished 62nd (26:20.30) and Tristin Frye was 63rd (26:38.66).

In high school girls, Jaylee Miller led Comanche with a fourth-place finish with a time of 13:41.09. Ryleigh Woody was next with a time of 15:04.63 and Sarai Alverez was 62nd with a time of 17:53.60.

In junior high boys, Brycen Lassley of Comanche won the race with a time of 12:00.43, 12 seconds ahead of second place.

In junior high girls, Comanche placed third as a team with 82 points, including three top 15 finishes.

Brilee Combs was fifth (11:48.45), Jillian Evans was ninth (12:05.64) and Karsynn Bowles was 15th (12:29.17). Also, for Comanche, Arianna Cruz finished 33rd (13:28.02), Kilee Frye was 52nd (14:37.23) and Jorja Burns was 57th (15:08.35).

In the sixth grade boys and girls race, Aidan Frye was fourth (7:08.13), Mathew Hunt was 32nd (7:55.75) and Kahlen Morris was 74th (9:42.69).

At the Pre-State meet on Saturday, Jaylee Miller finished 19th in high school girls with a time of 13:49.56, Ryleigh was 57th (15:38.89) and Sarai Alvarez was 110th (18:22.05).

In high school boys, Landon Ellis placed fourth (17:30.10); Austin James was 105th (23:41.70; Jaxson Billingsley was 109th (24:40.62); Owen Bigford was 112th (24:42.62) and Tristin Frye was 129th (27:38.99).
