David Paul Griffin

February 09, 2024

David Paul Griffin was born on July 1, 1952, to Alvis (Bud) and Lois (Harris) Griffin, in Duncan. He was welcomed into his eternal home on Feb. 1, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones earth, to be welcomed by his loved ones in Heaven. He lived his entire life on the family’s farm east of Comanche. He attended Comanche Public Schools graduating in 1970. In 1969, he met the love of his life, Jane Hutson.

Dave and Jane were married on July 10, 1970. They established their home on family land and worked together to build a home like no other. To this union were born two daughters, Dessie and Jamie. As life moved on and the girls married, along came his favorite part of life – grandkids and great-grandkids. Dave’s goal was to be the best Papa he could possibly be; he succeeded beyond measure. There is no place like Nana and Papa’s house. So many memories of so many happy times.

Dave also enjoyed working in his blacksmith shop and collecting and working with antique farm equipment. He loved working the land. It was in his blood.

There were also hard days, but Dave faced them with an unwavering faith in His Savior, Jesus Christ, whom he had accepted as a child. Dave invested his life in others by faithfully serving his church as deacon, Sunday School teacher and song leader. He lived a life of absolute integrity. A true follower of Christ. A man who sought God’s heart. A man’s man. An exemplary husband. The best daddy. The most amazing Papa. In his final days, he tried to assure the family his home-going would leave just one empty chair, but a gaping hole that empty chair will be.

Dave was proceeded in death by his parents, and mother and father-in-law, Jack and Zelma Hutson, and three brothers-in-law Kent Kraemer, Steve Watts, and David Hayes. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jane; his oldest daughter, Dessie Tucker and her husband Greg, his youngest daughter, Jamie Lee and husband Kevin all of Comanche. He is also survived by his treasures, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jadynn and Blake Brown and their sons Caleb and Asher of Claremore; Ethan Tucker; Austin and Sierra Tucker; Dylan Lee and fiance’ Gracee Gore; Juliana and Joel Ratliff and their son Jacob David who is due to be born in June; Emma Tucker and Daniel Lee, all of whom live in Comanche and Duncan. He is also survived by his brother James and Vicki Griffin and sister RuthAnn Kraemer and Lorenzo Shapiro.

He was laid to rest in a coffin lovingly made by grandsons and grandsons-in-law. His body was carried proudly by his grandsons, who were his pride and joy. He was laid to rest on his farm to be near his sweetheart Jane and on the land he worked and loved. His soul will be eternally at rest at home with his beloved Jesus.
