Comanche is primed and ready for its Chisholm Trail Trade Days market opening this Saturday at the old Comanche motel on S. Highway 81.

City manager Chuck Ralls said all 19 rooms have been rented to vendors and there are four vendors on the waiting list.

“We still have some outdoor booths available, but people just need to show up on the day of and get those,” Ralls said.

The market will open at 8 a.m. and end around 6 p.m.

“The only thing is we need to get a plumber out there before Saturday so we can have some working restrooms and we can’t find one right now,” Ralls said.

Ralls said there will be a wide variety of items for sale including antiques, t-shirts, crafts, vintage clothing, woodworking, home decor and other things.

He said he has been in contact with the USDA, who gave the city the $146,000 rural grant to pay for the renovation to the motel.

“They are very excited about the project and how well it is going,” Ralls said. “The city staff really stepped up and helped us get this done.”

Ralls hopes it will mean the chance of getting more of them in the future.

He said the community has been excited about the market.

“I’ve been really happy with it,” Ralls said. “I’m excited to see how it goes.”
