A Loco woman has been arrested for allegedly having sexual contact with a prisoner at the Stephens County jail and also bringing him cigarettes.

According to the affidavit, Almeda Emerick was working as a detention officer at the jail when she allegedly had sexual contact with inmate Michael Shivers in April. The affidavit stated that it was Shivers who alleged the contact. He also stated Emerick had brought him cigarettes into the jail.

After waiving her Miranda Rights, Emerick agreed to talk to the sheriff’s deputies. Emerick allegedly told the deputies she felt bad for Shivers and wanted to help him. She initially denied having the contact with Shivers, but later allegedly confessed that she had touched him and allowed him to touch her sexually and that they had also kissed over the course of three weeks.

Emerick also allegedly confessed to bringing Shivers cigarettes on two different occasions. She told deputies she knew what she had done was wrong.
Emerick is being charged with felony sexual battery and bringing contraband into a jail.
