Harril Eugene Rice was born March 8th, 1940 to Roy Eugene and Virgie Rice of Comanche, Oklahoma. He was welcomed home by his Savior at the age of 81 on February 27th, 2022 at home in Comanche. A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Ray of Hope Church. He will be laid to rest at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday evening from 5:00-6:30 p.m.

Harril’s days were filled with family, friends, and as many stories to tell as he could find people to listen. He retired after 33 years from Bell Helicopter and returned to his hometown of Comanche. He could often be found visiting around the kitchen table with a cup of coffee or playing cards. He enjoyed listening to classic country and western music, reading, or square dancing with the love of his life, Rebecca. His charismatic spirit and elaborate stories made him a magnet to all who knew him. He never met anyone he didn’t enjoy talking to.

Harril is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Eugene and Virgie Rice, brother Homer Rice, son in-law Jerry Taylor and brother-in-law Roger McAlister.

He is survived by his wife Rebecca of 63 years, his sister Fay Smith and husband Johnie, and sister Aline McAlister. Harril has three children: Gina Taylor of Comanche, Kim and husband Scott Gardner of Fort Worth, and Kevin and wife Lori Rice of Denison, Texas. Harril is blessed with six grandchildren and spouses: Roy and Peyton Ramsey, Molly and Jesse Rios, Rebecca and Nicholas Grieco, Jessye Ramsey and Ben Grossmann, Emily and Logan Smith, and Kaleb and Lauren Rice. He has four great-grandchildren: Ryan James Grieco, Andrew Gardner Grieco, Natalie Raelyn Ramsey, Hunter Ryan Rios, and one on the way, Holland Eugene Rice.
