Hazel Dean Grandstaff

Hazel Dean Grandstaff, of Comanche, was born March 26, 1936 in Willis, Mich. to Norman and Burladiine (Holmes) Sanders. She passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023, at her home with her family by her side.

The family will hold a private service at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center of Duncan.

Hazel was a graduate of Wayne (Mich.) High School. She married David Grandstaff, who was the love of her life, on April 20, 1974 in Livonia, Mich.  She had worked as a bank officer for numerous banks, including First National Bank, Bank Four, and Bank of America, before retiring. She loved gardening but, most of all, she loved collecting things. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, and two daughters: Leslie Sutton and Jackie Stanton.

Hazel is survived by her husband, David; children: Terrie Poynter and husband Steven of New Baltimore, Mich.; Lorrie Capehart of New Baltimore, Mich.; Jamie White of Comanche; Lisa Roten and husband Marvin of Fenton, Mich.; Laura Pilon and husband Matt of Livonia, Mich.; and Larry Grandstaff and wife Jody of Westland, Mich.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations in Hazel’s name can be made to Traditions Hospice, 1836 NW 52nd Street, Suite B, Lawton, OK 73505.
