School bond passes

February 23, 2023

The Comanche Public School bond easily passed last week with 81 percent of voters approving the measure.

The $3.95 million bond will be used for various projects including the construction of a new music room/storm shelter, high school renovations, a new vocational-agriculture truck, band instruments and uniforms, greenhouse renovations and playground improvements among other things.

The bond replaces the current bond that went toward technology and security.

There were 207 votes for the proposition and 49 votes against.

Superintendent Julie Bills is appreciative of the community’s support.

“I am excited and grateful to our community for your support of the bond proposal,” Bills said. “ The projects financed by the sale of the approved bonds are essential to the continued success of our school district. Without these funds, there is no way we would be able to accomplish these improvements. We are already planning for the start of the various projects and look forward to getting started in July when the funds become available.”
