Some progress made in Pewitt murder case
It has been 35 years since Mary Morgan Pewitt was murdered in Comanche and now it seems there are finally some positive moments in the unsolved case.
Pewitt was found murdered in her home in Comanche on N. 10th Street in the early morning hours of June 4, 1988 by her daughters and her mother. Pewitt had been stabbed 33 times.
No arrests have ever been made in the murder.
Her oldest daughter, Kira Allen-Lowe, has been on a decades long quest to find her mother’s killer and she is encouraged in some of the developments in the cold case.
“(OSBI) Agent Joe Kimmons is the active agent on the case and has been for the last two years,” Allen-Lowe said in response to a question posed via social media. “(He) has made more progress than anyone before. A couple of search warrants for DNA and prints were served in Texas via the Texas Rangers, within the last year, with one being as recent as May 2023.”
Allen-Lowe said she has filed a Writ of Assistance to obtain all medical examiner records, but there has been a snag.
“They have lost the autopsy, medical examiner notes and any photos taken by the medical examiner at the scene,” Allen-Lowe said. “I was able to receive the photos from the autopsy itself. (Ex-husband) Tim Allen was served a search warrant in Nov. 2022 and Lynn Boice Allen was served a warrant in December and a follow-up warrant in May 2023.
