GOP Chili Cookoff tonight
Chili cooks will be taste-testing their best recipes for the upcoming GOP Chili Cookoff coming today sponsored by the Republican Party of Stephens County.
The free event is held in the Community Building at the Stephens County Fairgrounds from 6-9 p.m. The four main rooms of the building all offer some type of entertainment. Territory Hall will feature Thunder and Lightning, a versatile duo composed of Lynn Walker and Randy Mote from the Chickasha area that can perform almost all kinds of music from country to jazz to rock to gospel. Another of the rooms will feature a big screen TV playing a football game, another a karaoke where anyone can sing, and a Kids Karnival room for small ones.
Obadiah, a professional clown from the Bricktown Clown Alley will be entertaining kids with balloon art, Dean Johnson, a professional magician will be visiting tables with card tricks and other slight of-hand tricks, and a professional Caricature Artist will draw your exaggerated picture.
A concession will operate out of the kitchen area of the complex for drinks and sweets.
About 30 Chili Cooks are expected to attend and visitors can sample any and all of the different chilis being offered. The chili will be judged by celebrity judges and plaques awarded in several categories. The purchase of a sample cup for $1 will allow the purchaser to vote for the people's choice award.
Both kids and adults are welcome to dress for Halloween and kids can trick or treat the chili booths for treats.
Every Elected Republican State official will have a chili booth at the event along with local officials and many others.
Names are drawn near the end of the event to give away a bevy of gift cards and other prizes.
Note to publishers/editors: This event draws several hundred people mainly parents and kids looking for a safe place to have fun. The most fun event Republicans in Stephens County do. There is no admission charged, the Chili Cooks pay a small fee to participate, and the chili booths are decorated to win awards for best booth. We invite anyone from your business to come join us as a participant or visitor.
