Johnny Dell Curtis

December 04, 2020

Johnny Dell Curtis, age 80, a lifelong resident of Comanche, peacefully passed away early Friday morning, Dec. 4, 2020, at Duncan Regional Hospital.

Johnny was born Dec. 2, 1940, in Clemscot, to Robert T. and Gladys (Goss) Curtis. He attended school at Comanche.  He worked as a ranch hand on the Jones Ranch for many years and also worked in the oil fields of California, Utah, Texas, and Oklahoma. He was a hard-working, man who enjoyed hunting, especially quail hunting, and he loved fishing. Johnny was well known around town and had many friends. He took a lot of pleasure in constantly “picking on” his friends. He and Rita Hanna were united in marriage on Jan. 3, 1998, at Ray of Hope Church in Comanche.

He is survived by his wife Rita, of the home; a brother, Bobby; three sisters: Glenda, Ina, and Joyce; and two grandchildren, Michael and DeLynn, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Gladys, and his son, Ronnie Curtis; and a brother, Billy.

His family wants to say a special thank you to his group of friends for always being there for him, and spending time with him, whether it was drinking coffee at Thirsty’s or out on the lake fishing and laughing and cutting up.
