Ava Foraker receives Keep Oklahoma Beautiful award
Keep Oklahoma Beautiful hosted their 33rd annual environmental excellence celebration this past week. Dozens of individuals, businesses, non-profits and municipalities were recognized for their contributions across the state over the past year.
Among those recognized was Comanche High School student, Ava Foraker. Ava is the daughter of Josh and Micah Foraker. Over the past few years Ava has been very active in the community serving and volunteering in various roles. Ava received the Affiliate Champion award primarily for her involvement in the Comanche Community Garden and serving seniors in the community over the past two years.
When asked about the event, Ava said “It was a great experience and I loved having the opportunity to go. I love this community and the people I get to serve with.”
Comanche City Manager, Chuck Ralls also serves on the Keep Oklahoma Beautiful board and was able to present Foraker with her award.
“Ava was one of hundreds nominated this year. I don’t have any say over the selection of awards, but I think they made a great choice. It was a great pleasure to nominate her and present her with this award, she is very deserving. Her contributions to our city have been amazing.” Ralls said.
The City of Comanche has been a member of the Keep Oklahoma Beautiful organization since 2017. During that time they have received thousands of dollars in grant money, equipment, supplies and numerous awards.
