School bond projects to begin soon

Comanche residents will soon begin to see construction on buildings and other items as part of the bond issue passed by voters almost a year from the date of the vote.

The new band, vocal music and safe room facility building construction will begin on Feb. 12. The building renovation to the high school that includes renovations of the old auditorium, commons area, high school administrative office, restrooms and other general upgrades and improvements will begin on April 1.

One project that is near completion is the new playground at the elementary school. Comanche Elementary Principal Robin Troutman said a ribbon cutting will be scheduled once it is completed.

The new greenhouse has been ordered and the district is waiting on the specs to get the building permit.

Parking will be impacted during the ongoing construction. The spaces directly next to the high school where students normally park will not available. Students will have designated parking in front of the gym and multi-purpose building. Staff will park in the easternmost parking lot and visitors will park to the east of the construction zone.
