Two arrested on stolen gun charge
A Duncan man and woman were arrested for the misdemeanor of knowingly receiving or concealing stolen property during a traffic stop south of Comanche on March 4.
According to the affidavit, a Comanche police officer had initiated a traffic stop after noting a faulty brake light on their vehicle when they departed from the Sonic parking lot.
The male driver, Robert De'Anthony Bryant, age 20, and female passenger, Lashaunti Chianne Alexander, age 21, The two people were asked to step out of the car after Bryant allegedly told the officer he did not have a driver's license or proof of insurance. Both suspects were patted down for weapons and taken to the patrol car. Bryant allegedly told the officer that there was marijuana and a registered firearm in the glove box.
Upon searching the vehicle, the officer found marijuana, drug paraphernalia and three firearms in the vehicle. One of the firearms came back as stolen after being run through county dispatch.
Both individuals were Mirandized and both agreed to talk to the officer. According to the affidavit, Alexander said she knew the firearm was stolen and that they had received the stolen firearm from an individual who admitted he had hit an unnamed pawn shop. This was later confirmed by an Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms agent, who said that 15 of the firearms had been stolen from the pawn shop.
Roberts allegedly implied that he knew the firearm was stolen. Citations were issued for the marijuana and driving infractions. Both individuals were transported to the Stephens County jail where they were booked.
The crime of knowingly possessing or concealing stolen property is punishable by up to one year in the county jail and/or up to a $500 fine.
