More information released in Sutton death

Video evidence and witness accounts led to the arrest of Charlus Terry Bishop in the death of Terry Sutton, according to court records.

According to the affidavit, on April 3, Sutton was allegedly shot while sitting in the driver seat of a pickup by someone outside the pickup at the intersection of county roads 1780 and 2910 in Stephens County.

Both men were allegedly having a relationship with the same woman.

Witnesses near the scene described seeing two trucks parked at the intersection facing north. The witnesses heard a gun shot and both vehicles took off heading north.

Video footage from a residence at CR 2920 showed Sutton’s white pickup driving north at 3:04 p.m.

Approximately 25 minutes later, the video footage shows a brown pickup truck, allegedly owned by Bishop, being driven down the road at a high rate of speed. Sutton’s GPS from the white Chevrolet turned off at 3:13 p.m. when his vehicle went into a pond, where he was found by first responders.

Bishop’s cellphone data information was received by the deputy on April 29. Bishop had told deputies that he had arrived at the woman’s residence at 3 p.m. and had stayed there during the time of the murder.

The data showed that Bishop was allegedly at the intersection where the shooting occurred at the approximate time of the shooting. He eventually returned to the residence later after 4 p.m.

Bishop is being charged with first degree murder in the case.
