Wanda Cottrell

Wanda Cottrell has moved on from this life, at the age of 92. She was born Oct. 17, 1931, in Petersburg. She died on June 12, 2024 in Garland, Texas, where she had lived for the past seven years with son David Cottrell. Wanda was a Stephens County resident for over 60 years, mostly in the Meridian community. She married James Cottrell in 1951 and they were married for 56 years until his passing in 2007. She was a homemaker and was one of the original employees at Hagger Slacks in Duncan. She later worked at Duncan Regional Hospital in Food Service. She and James raised cattle in the Loco are for many years and always had a garden at their home on Oliver Road. She was an avid walker, and she and James fished at Waurika Lake every spring for crappie. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Surviving relatives include brother Frank, sons Mike (Nancy) and David, and grandchildren Jameson (Jamie), Nathan(Katy), and Baron(Nikki); nine great grandchildren, Brooke, Micah, Aria, Dorian, Autumn, Carson, Braden, Ryker, and Rhett.

Wanda was preceded in death by her father Robert Heidelberg, mother Katherina Kozner; sisters Katherine and Mary; brothers Robert Jr, John, Herbert, and Peter.

Funeral service will be Wednesday , June 19 at 11 a.m. at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel, with interment at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.
