James Willard Bacon, Jr.
James Willard Bacon, Jr., a lifelong resident of Comanche, peacefully passed away on Wednesday afternoon, July 3, 2024 in Duncan, at the age of 78. A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 8 at 10 a.m. at the pavilion at Fairlawn Cemetery, with Bro. Dee Bowen officiating, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Viewing will be Sunday, from noon until 5 p.m. The family will be receiving friends from noon. until 2 p.m.
James was born Jan. 27, 1946 in Comanche, to James Willard Bacon, Sr. and Goldie (Graham) Bacon. He was a 1964 graduate of Comanche High School. He and Julie McClennen were united in marriage on Dec. 14, 1974 in Archer City, Texas. He was a pipefitter with Local Union #344, working jobs all over the country, including working ten years on the Alaskan Pipeline. James loved welding, fishing, especially noodling, finding deals at garage sales, going to the casino, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He and Julie made a point to attend all the kids and grandkids activities.
Survivors include his wife Julie, of the home; his children: Jennifer Couch and husband Chad, of Duncan, Jeremy Bacon and wife Jennifer, Comanche, and Shelley Bacon Current, Houston, Texas; five grandchildren: Chelsea Kirton and husband Hunter, Jake Couch and wife Haley, Ethan Bacon, Chase Couch, and Karigan Bacon; three great-grandchildren: Ember, Braxton, and Winter. Also, two brothers: Tommy Bacon and wife Cricket, Glen Rose, Texas. and Bobby Bacon, Kemp, Texas; one sister, Wanda June Wizansky, Marble Falls, Texas; two brothers in law: Ron McClennen and Rosalie, and Dan McClennen and Cheryl; a sister-in-law, Joyce McClennen; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Goldie Bacon; sisters: Billie Ann Dyer and Jana Jeanne Bacon; brothers in law, Bobby Dyer, Joe Wizansky, Jack McClennen, Mack McClennen, and sister-in-law Kathy McClennen.
In James’ memory, the family is asking that memorial contributions be given to the Ainsley Turner Go Fund Me account.
