Thomas Eugene "Bear" Stretch, Jr.
Thomas Eugene Stretch Jr., or “Bear” as he was always known, was born on Aug. 14, 1980 in Duncan to Thomas Stretch, Sr. and Betty Louise Burton. He passed away on July 24, 2024 at his home in Elk City, at the age of 43. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024 at 10 a.m. at the pavilion at Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche, with Andrew Ausmus officiating, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.
Bear was loving father, son, grandson, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to everyone. He was raised in Comanche by his mother and step father, Larry Ausmus. He loved fishing, astronomy, art, science, and knife collecting. He loved his pet cat, “Momma Cat”. He loved the Lord, and he was a religious man.
Survivors include his son, Coby Burton, Bison; his step-father, Larry Ausmus, Elk City; two brothers: Johnnie Burton and wife Tess, Canton and Billy Bob Burton, Garland, Texas; two sisters: Savanna Stretch, Comanche and Precious Ausmus, Elk City; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends.
Bear was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Stretch Sr., his mother, Betty Ausmus; and his grandparents Maxine and Johnnie Burton.
