Jimmie Wayne Thompson
Jimmie Wayne Thompson, age 91, a lifelong resident of this community, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at his home. A funeral service will be held at Corum Baptist Church on Saturday, Aug. 3 at 1 p.m., with Bro. Roy Snider officiating. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Viewing will be held on Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Jimmie was born May 6, 1933 near Comanche, to Jim and Lena Fay (Morgan) Thompson. Jimmie proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his discharge from the military he worked as a welder. He was a member of Pipefitters Local 798 Union. He loved riding motorcycles, four-wheelers, reading, and boating. Jimmie also loved traveling. He had visited 49 of our 50 states, missing only Hawaii. He especially enjoyed going to Mexico and also Canada. Jimmie was a member of the Corum Baptist Church.
Survivors include his children, Jeannee Collinsworth, Jim Thompson, and David Thompson, all of Comanche; six grandchildren: Michelle VanBuskirk and husband Brian, Justin Thompson, Davy Thompson, Doug Thompson, Deanna Basoco and husband Spencer, and Baleigh Thompson; six great-grandchildren: Kaden VanBuskirk, Kamren VanBuskirk(Jordyn), Kasen VanBuskirk, Kynlea Thompson, Taylin Basoco, Tate Basoco, Holly Basoco, and Jed Basoco. Also two sisters, Doris Barnes, and Kaye Weldon and husband Jim.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Lena Thompson; a granddaughter, Bridget Diane Thompson; and his former wife, Lorella Ann Thompson.
