Adams wins run-off for state representative

Stracy Jo Adams of Duncan won the State Rep. District 50 run-off with Andrew Aldridge last week to secure her seat as the next legislator. 
She will not have a Democrat opponent in November’s general election.
Adams garnered 2,287 votes (61.71 percent) to Aldridge’s 1,419 votes (38.29 percent). 
District 50 covers Jefferson and the southern portion of Stephens counties.
In Stephens County, Adams received 2,058 votes to Aldridge’s 1,290, winning  18 of the 20 polling places. 
“I do not know where to begin, other than to give glory to God. This journey has been the most humbling experience I have ever been through,” Adams said on her official Facebook election page. “I had to learn to truly trust God and put my faith in Him.
“I am incredibly honored to be the newly elected representative for District 50. This victory belongs not just to me, but to everyone who has worked tirelessly throughout this campaign, believed in our vision, and supported our efforts to help us cross the finish line. You truly made a difference. I can’t thank you enough.”
Adams was thankful to the voters for giving her the opportunity.
“To the voters of District 50, thank you for placing your trust in me. I am deeply humbled by the responsibility you have given me, and I promise to work tirelessly on your behalf. Together, we will tackle the issues that matter most to our community and our state. I pledge to keep you informed, and I give you my word that I will work for you.  Thank you all that came out and voted..”
She also thanked Aldridge for his willingness to run.
“Running for office requires great courage and commitment, and I commend Andrew for his dedication to our community,”Adams said. “Throughout this campaign, we may have differed on some issues, but I have always respected Andrew’s passion for public service... I look forward to working together in the future to ensure that District 50 continues to grow and prosper.”
