Lady Indians continue play in district

The Lady Indians went 2-2 in district play last week. After a nail-biting extra-inning loss to Davis on Monday and a loss to Lone Grove on Tuesday, Comanche picked up a doubleheader sweep at Marietta on Thursday.
Comanche sits alone in fourth place in the District 3A-1 race with a district game Tuesday at home against Kingston.
The Lady Indians close out the district portion of the schedule on the road with games in Davis, Lone Grove and Kingston before returning home against Walters on Sept. 17 and Marlow on Sept. 24.

The Lady Indians were limited to three hits and did not help themselves in the field by committing six errors as the Lady Longhorns won the district matchup.
Lone Grove scored four runs in the top of the first to grab the early lead which it would hold the rest of the way.
Cianna O’Connor, Jentry Whaley and Cassidy Smith had hits for Comanche.
McKenzie Graham took the loss on the mound, giving up five earned runs on four hits. Lexi Feldman closed out the game, tossing the final three innings.

Marietta 0
The Lady Indians scored at least one run in the first four innings to pick up the road win.
Comanche had five hits in the game and took advantage of six Marietta errors.
Jentry Whaley went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs, while Raelee Ellis, McKenzie Graham and Katelynn Cole accounted for the other hits with Graham getting a double.
The Lady Indians scored two runs in the top of the first, one in the second, two in the third and four in the fourth while holding Marietta scoreless.
Pitcher Jentry Whaley allowed three hits in the game and struck out eight.

In the second game of the doubleheader, Raelee Ellis went 3-for-3 with a triple, drove in two runs and scored three times to lead the way for the Lady Indians.
Marietta took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but it did not last long as Comanche responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead.
In the third, Comanche began to pull away, scoring six runs before adding the final two runs in the fourth.
Jaylee Roebuck, Jentry Whaley, McKenzie Graham and Cassidy Smith also picked up hits in the game.
Cloey Kinkade was the winning pitcher as she gave up three hits and no earned runs and struck out five.
