Lady Bulldogs pick up wins ove Waurika and Riverside

The Empire softball team went 2-2 the final week of August. The Lady Bulldogs were 7-6 on the season heading into their Tuesday game against Cyril.
Monday, Aug. 26

Waurika 2
The Lady Bulldogs put up six runs in the second inning and never trailed as they downed the Lady Eagles in four innings.
Waurika cut the lead to 6-2 in the top of the third, but it would be as close as they would get as Empire scored three more runs each in the third and fourth innings to pull away.
The Lady Bulldogs pounded out 14 hits in the game. Eight players got at least one hit, with six getting two hits.
Chanlie Rochell went 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBI to lead Empire. Braylie Harris had a pair of doubles and an RBI, while teammates Raylee Blackburn and Laynie Johnson both went 2-for-3 with doubles. Kylie Lemons went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Chazli Massey and Ashtin Anderson each had a hit.
Blackburn was the winning pitcher, giving up five hits and no earned runs while striking out seven.
Tuesday, Aug. 27
Rush Springs 16

The Lady Redskins jumped out early, scoring 10 runs in the top of the first inning and the Lady Bulldogs were never able to catch up.
Empire scored two runs in the bottom of the first and another run in the bottom of the second to cut the lead to 10-3, but Rush Springs added four more runs in the top of the third and two more in the fourth to push the lead to 16-3. Empire got three runs back in the bottom of the fourth, but it would not be enough as the game ended.
The Lady Bulldogs had nine hits in the game with Chazli Massey, Kylie Lemons and Braylie Harris each getting two hits. Cady Hill went 1-for-1 and drove in two runs. Raylee Blackburn and Kendie Rochell also had hits.
Blackburn was the losing pitcher.
Saturday, Aug. 31

Riverside 2
A player doesn’t always have to get a hit to make an impact. Kylie Lemons drove in two runs on groundouts to help pace the Lady Bulldogs to the win in Minco.
The game was scoreless through four innings before Lemons drove in Chanlie Rochell in the top of the fifth for the first run. Rochell had reached on a bunt single to open the inning.
Chazli Massey scored on an error for the second run of the inning.
In the top of the sixth, Lemons drove in Ashtin Anderson, who had walked earlier in the inning, on a groundout to push the lead to 3-0. Braylie Harris would follow with an RBI single that scored Rochell, who had reached on a bunt single earlier.
In the top of the seventh, Chanlie Rochell drove in the final run for the Lady Bulldogs on a groundout that scored Natalie Williams, who had singled earlier.
Riverside scored a run each in the sixth and seventh innings. The game ended on a tag at third base.
Massey and Chanlie Rochell each had three hits in the game to lead Empire. Kindee Rochell had two hits. Harris, Laynie Johnson and Williams each had a hit.
Williams was the winning pitcher, giving up four hits and an earned run while striking out five.

The Lady Bulldogs could never get their bats going, falling victim to a one-hit shutout to the home team.
Minco scored in each of the first four innings.
Kylie Lemons went 1-for-2 for Empire at the plate.
Raylee Blackburn was the losing pitcher.
