BONUS COVERAGE: Indians face stiff test at Kingston
The Comanche Indians face their biggest challenge of the season so far this week when they travel to Kingston to take on the Redskins.
Kingston (1-1) is coming off a 35-28 loss at Fairview last week. The Redskins defeated Madill in Week 0, 35-7.
Comanche will serve as the homecoming guest for Kingston.
“Kingston brings a lot of size and a lot of numbers,” said Gary Robinson, Comanche head coach. “They’ll have players from the 20 to the 20. They’re big and they’re athletic. Fairview has won 32 games in a row and (Kingston) should have beaten them. They only lost by a touchdown.”
The Redskins went 10-2 in 2023. They won the district and made it to the second round of the playoffs. Eight players return on offense and nine on defense from that team.
“They will bring (the defense) in with their run on offense,” Robinson said. “They like to run slot stuff and bring you into the box and they can spread you out as well. Defensively, they are in a three-man front and s we’re going to do some things to try to get some guys out of the box and spread them out a little bit and move the ball some.”
Already down a few starters after two weeks, the Indians would like to leave healthy as they head into their bye week.
“It’s one of those games where we just want to get better, get to the bye week, get some rest and then get ready for the Tishomingo game.” Robinson said.
A healthy Stephens County requires great community news.
