School board has routine October meeting

The Comanche Board of Education met in a regular session on Oct. 8.
The board approved various routine consent agenda items which included the approval of the September meeting minutes and booster club sanctionings. The treasurer’s report, activity fund report, and FY-25 encumbrances were also approved.
The board accepted the resignation of Megan Stuckey as the elementary assistant principal. Bills recommended the signing of a contract with Blue Haven Mental Health Services, LLC - Laura Layn. Layn will work with elementary students as an outreach specialist.
The board also hired Makayla Collins for an ABA/paraprofessional position. Jacy Dobbins will assist Kim Justus in an administrative role - as well as counseling.
Superintendent Julie Bills informed the board of the status of the bond projects.
The greenhouse pad is completed and the concrete and electrical are ready for bids through Red Sky Construction.
The completion of the safe room and commons area should be completed by the end of the first semester.
Superintendent Bills reported that the October parent-teacher conferences are split into two days - Oct. 14, 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Oct. 17, 9 a.m. to noon
