New medical business opens in Comanche

Leah Newton is hoping her new business will help Comanche and surrounding areas with weight loss, restorative medicine, and a soon-to-be urgent care facility.
“And soon we’ll be opening up for urgent care and we’ll be serving the Comanche area as well as the surrounding areas - Waurika, Ringling, Ryan, Walters, so they don’t have to drive as far for urgent care,” Newton said following her Comanche Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting on Dec. 6.
The plan to open the business began a few years ago when Newton graduated with her nurse practitioner degree.
“It’s such an underserved need here in our community,” Newton said. “Once I decided that I was going to open up it’s taken approximately three months to get it all processed and all the paperwork. I’m still waiting on the credentialling from the insurance companies. That is why I have to wait to open up urgent care.”
She is assisted by Kaydi Allen and Kayla Graham.
The business is located across the street from Sonic in the same building as the laundromat. Newton said they spent a month getting the office ready to open.
