Dr. Bruce Alvin Darrow

Dr. Bruce Alvin Darrow, a resident of Duncan peacefully passed away Thursday afternoon, Dec. 19, 2024, at his home. He was 81 years old. A memorial service will be held at a later date, at the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin.
 Bruce was born Feb. 5, 1943, in Hobart to Leroy and Thelma (Davis) Darrow.  After graduating from Putnam City School, where he played football and baseball,  he attended Phillips University, continued his baseball career, and then attended Medical School at the University of Oklahoma.  He did his residency at OU Health Science Center in Oklahoma City,  Bruce practiced in Oklahoma City and numerous rural areas as a board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist for many years. He retired from practicing medicine in January 2024.   He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, as a Navy physician/surgeon for 11 years. Bruce and Carol came to Duncan in 2020, from Poteau. He was an active member of Providence Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Weddle Darrow, of the home;  two sons:  Christopher Darrow, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Nathaniel  Darrow, Oklahoma City; a daughter, Jennifer Darrow, Dallas, Texas;  a bonus son, Eric Matthew Cotten, Ohio;  a brother, Dennis Darrow, Sugar Valley, Ga.;  granddaughter, Tatum Darrow, and bonus grandson, Vale Cotten;  and two nephews: Scott Darrow and Andrew Darrow.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Thelma Darrow; his first wife, Mary Darrow; and a sister, Linda Darrow.
