Basketball manages to slip in games around snow

The Comanche basketball teams kept facing changes at the Dibble Tournament last week as snow wreaked havoc on the schedule.
The Lady Indians played three games going 1-2 with a win over Wright City (39-32), a loss to Dibble (44-21) and an overtime loss to Lone Grove (38-35). Further information was not available as of press time and will be featured in next week’s Comanche Times.
The Indians managed to get in two games and went 1-1 with a loss to Grove (50-43) and a 48-46 win over Elmore City-Pernell.

Grove broke open a tight game in the third quarter, outscoring Comanche 15-4 to secure a double digit lead heading into the final quarter. The Ridgerunners had led 12-10 at the end of the first quarter with Comanche taking a one-point lead at halftime with a 16-13 advantage.
Colby Shannon scored nearly half of his team’s points in the second, going 7-for-7 from the free-throw line.
The Indians tried to push back in the final quarter, outscoring the Ridgerunners 13-8, but they could not catch up.

It was a battle from start to finish as Comanche and Elmore City-Pernell went down to the wire in their match-up. The Badgers led 24-22 at the half, but the Indians outscored them 26-22 in the second half to get the win. Comanche led 38-37 at the end of the third before securing a 10-9 edge in the fourth to seal the win.
The Indians got a big lift from big man Johnny Alvarez, who scored a season-high 12 points in the contest.

Earlier in the week, Comanche traveled to Lindsay for a pair of games.
In the girls game, the Leopardettes came out hot to take the early lead and never surrendered it. 
Lindsay led 14-6 at the end of the first quarter and 22-12 at the half. The Leopardettes outscored the Lady Indians 16-8 in the third quarter.
Jaylee Roebuck had one of her best offensive games for the Lady Indians, scoring a team-high 16 points with most of them going on driving lay-ups.

Comanche jumped out to a 13-3 lead in the first quarter, but couldn't keep up the pace as Lindsay relayed for the win. The Indians were held scoreless from the field in the second quarter and the Leopards took advantage, erasing a 15-10 deficit at the end of the first quarter and turning it  into a 31-17 halftime lead.
Lindsay kept up the pressure in the third quarter and extended thier lead to 27 points heading into the fourth quarter.
