Comanche falls on road at Marlow

by Todd Brooks

MARLOW - In their final tune-up before the Stephens County Tournament, the Comanche basketball teams had the opportunity to play on the floor where they would be playing the following week.
The outcomes were not as the teams would have hoped. The Lady Indians managed to stay in the game despite not playing their best before falling in overtime. The Indians saw the Outlaws catch fire early and were never able to claw their way back into the game.

It was death by missed free throws and missed open shots for Comanche.
Marlow jumped out to a 12-3 lead to open the game and would stay ahead until the fourth quarter.
Raelee Ellis’ three-pointer to end the third quarter caught the Lady Outlaws’ lead to 27-25 and Jaylee Roebuck tied the game with the first bucket in the fourth.
Ellis would give Comanche the lead for the first time since early in the first quarter on a three-pointer with 6:00 to go in regulation, but it would be the last points for the Lady Indians until freshman Cassidy Smith knocked down two free throws to tie the game at 32-all. Neither team would score the rest of the way, sending the game into overtime.
Marlow opened OT with a three-pointer and they would lead the reast of the way. Comanche was not able to get closer than two points the rest of the way.
Even with the two clutch free throws by Smith to tie the game at the end of regulation, Comanche was just 5-of-12 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter and overtime.
