March 07, 2025

Larry Pewitt, born April 11, 1949 to Ray and Bobbi Pewitt, left this earth on March 4, 2025. He was 75 years old.
A graveside memorial service will take place at 11 a.m.., Thursday, March 13, at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.
Larry started this life in hardship but learned that his mother and grandmother Mae would try to look out for him the best that they could. Larry served his country by serving in Vietnam through the late sixties. After that, he started his first family and welcomed his first daughter.
For many years, he worked in the oilfield. Later in life, he joined law enforcement and served with pride for 42 years. During that time, he married Terri and created his second family, which gave him 2 more daughters. He was known as Poppie to 7 grandkids. Larry was also known as a jokester, a collector of basically everything and a friend to many people. He loved listening to music, riding his motorcycle, and mowing the grass.
He leaves behind his wife, Terri, who was lovingly beside him until the very end. His children are Aimee Mears (Ronnie Mears), Jesica Hulen, Amanda Self (Chris Self).  His prized grandkids, Zach Mears of Nashville, Tenn., Ryland and Joseph Self of Elgin, Lesly and Joshua Greer, Harmony and Willow Martinez of Walters. As well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him.
Preceding him in death are his parents; grandparents, Ben and Mae Coffey; brother, Stanley Pewitt; sister, Sandra Pewitt; and aunt, Joyce Warren.
Rest easy, Dad. You are free now. We will never forget you. You were one of a kind.
In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted to help with funeral expenses.
