Deana Faye Rose

March 10, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved “Meme” Deana Faye Rose. She passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025, at the age of 72 following a brief illness.  Deana was born in Duncan on Feb. 22, 1953, to Dean Steward and Helen (Eady).  While in high school her Stepfather moved the family to Holdrege, NE where she would meet and marry the love of her life Terry Rose.  They built their life together in Holdrege from 1971 until 1995 when they decided to move back to Comanche, OK. It is here that she would live out her remaining years near her large extended family.  She loved to spend time with her family, go on cruises, visit the local casino, drink coca-cola, watch sports, Dateline, and HGTV.  Her favorite color was pink and she often sported pink hair.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Terry Rose of Comanche; two children Shane (Amie) Rose of Cache, OK, Tera Mathis of Duncan (Scott of Nacona, Texas; bonus children Tasha Nelson of Lexington, Brittany Nelson (Morgan Powers) of Burkburnett, Texas, and Troy (Becky) Rose of Kearney, Neb. Her cherished grandchildren Nesha Smith of Kearney, Neb., Ariel Rose of McCook, Neb., Troy Rose, Jr. of Fremont, Neb., Dustin Rose Grand Island, Neb., Austin Rose of Wauchula, Fla., Alexandria Kirby of Yigo, Guam, Shayna Rose of Cache, Samantha Deck of Oklahoma City, Skylar Hawkins of Lawton.  Brayden Silva of Pratt, Kan., Jayden Silva of Anadarko, Landon, Gunnor, and Legend Yates of Duncan, Gracelyn Yates of Millington, Tenn., and Westlyn Powers of Burkburnett, Texas.  Also leaving behind to mourn her passing are 13 great grand-children, one sister Brenda (Johnny) Dunham of Ryan, one brother-in-law Wayne (Sharon) Rose of Kearney, Neb., three aunts, Pat Richardson of Duncan, Mozelle Black of Shreveport, La, Sonya Seratte (Bob Ivester) of Comanche, Cousins Vicki Neeld of Duncan, Kim Clark of Boyd, Texas, Sandra Young of Hope, Ark., Kandy Howard, Jimmy Barks of Shreveport, La., Angel Rylant of Duncan, Rondell Seratte of Abilene, Texas, Anthony Little, Deborah Sterkel of Chickasha, and Kathy Wray of Woodward.
In life we are lucky to hang on to that one special friend over the decades of life and for Deana that was Trish Mooneyham whom she met in high school. She was preceded in death by her father Donald Wood, mother Helen Wood, mother-in-law Delores Chereda, and great-grandson Jaxon Silva.
Meme never met a stranger and considered everyone her friend. She loved beyond measure and without judgement.  She accepted her kids and grandkid’s friends as her own. She absolutely loved watching sports and even more so if one of her own were playing. She once ran a touch down along the side lines as her son ran 70 yards. She enjoyed many years of sitting in wrestling gyms. If you watched her during those matches you got the sense she was once a wrestler herself the way she twisted and turned and called out each move. She celebrated the victories and cussed the losses. She was so proud of each of her “kids.” If anyone in her family were sick or injured, she was the first to show up to help and was the best nurse around. Some of her most treasured memories was of rocking babies to sleep. She was what you would call a baby whisperer, and she loved every minute of it. If you knew her you knew she had a special relationship with her grandson Landon. While he is non-verbal, he and Meme had full on conversations that only they understood. They also shared a deep love for “good, good Coke.”  To know Deana was to love her and if you never met her, you simply missed out on one of the good ones. Though she is gone, we will forever cherish the memories of her laughter, pink hair, and unwavering love.  Deana’s wishes of cremation and no service will be granted.  In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please make a donation to Think Ability, Inc in Duncan.
