Comanche baseball stays busy at Lawton Tournament

The Comanche baseball team played five games over the weekend at the Bo Bowman Tournament in Lawton. The Indians went 2-3 in the tournament. They also played a couple of district games, falling to Lone Grove last Tuesday and Marietta on Monday. Going into the April 2 game against Marietta, the Indians were 9-10 overall and 1-4 in District 3A-1 play.
The Indians travel to Newcastle for a tournament beginning on Thursday.

Thursday, March 27

Comanche 6
The Indians could not hold on to an early lead as a big third inning by the Wolverines proved to be the difference.
Comanche scored three runs in the top of the first tinning to take a 3-0 advantage. Lawton cut the lead to 3-2 in the second before putting up eight runs in the third to take the lead.
The Indians added two more runs in the fifth and one more in the sixth, but could not catch Lawton.
Comanche had five hits in the game led by Cooper Dobbins and Kanon Clift going 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Payton Jones, Bryson Goedhart and Kaison Votruba each had a hit.
Big Pasture 11

The Indians held a 5-4 lead after four innings, but Big Pasture put up seven runs in the fifth inning to take control of the game.
Comanche had seven hits in the game with Cooper Dobbins and Kanon Clift both going 2-for-3. Clift had two RBI. Carson Vansickle, Payton Jones and Bryson Goedhart each had a hit.
Friday, March 28

Anadarko 2
The Indians bounced back to pick up their first win in the contest when Comanche scored a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a 2-2 tie on an RBI single by Evan Dodd.
Comanche had four other hits in the game with Bryson Goedhart going 2-for-3 with two RBI and a double. Cooper Dobbins and Levi Slovak each had a double.
Payton Jones was the winning pitcher has he went the distance on the mound, giving up five hits and an earned run. He struck out 10.

Big Pasture 1
The Indians avenged their loss from a day earlier by scoring two runs in the top of the sixth when Payton Jones picked up an RBI single and Levi Slovak had a sacrifice fly.
Carson Vansickle went 3-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored to lead Comanche at the plate. Jones was 2-for-3, while Kanon Clift and Clayton Brantner each had a double.
Vansickle had a big game on the mound for the Indians as he struck out 14 and gave up no earned runs.
Saturday, March 29
Riverside 10
Comanche 9
The Indians rallied from an early 6-0 deficit to take the lead, but Riverside came back with fourĀ runs in the top of the fifth to retake the lead for good.
Comanche had 11 hits in the game with Carson Vansickle, Cooper Dobbins, Kanon Clift and Payton Jones each getting two hits. Clayton Branter had a home run and drove in two runs. Kaison Votruba had a hit and drove in two runs.

Comanche 0
The Longhorns had only three hits but they took advantage of three errors and nine walks to end the game early.
Comanche had five hits in the game with Payton Jones, Kanon Clift, Clayton Brantner, Bryson Goedhart and Kaison Votruba each getting a hit.
Monday, March 31
Marietta 14
Comanche 3
Comanche was down 5-3 after four innings when Marietta pulled away with nine runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Comanche had three hits in the game with Cooper Dobbins, Kanon Clift and Clayton Brantner each getting one with Dobbins and Clift doubling. Clift and Evan Dodd had an RBI each.
