Jr. Indians runners up at Lawton tourney

Following a 1-0 loss to Altus to open the tournament, the Jr. Indians fought their way through the loser’s bracket by rattling off wins over Cache, Anadarko, MacArthur Middle School - JV and Lawton Tomlinson to advance to the championship game.
The Jr. Indians had solid performances from their pitchers and defense, surrendering only five runs in the tournament.
Thursday
Altus JH 1
Comanche MS 0
It was a good old-fashioned pitcher’s duel in the tournament’s opening round. Each team’s pitchers surrendered just two hits with the only run coming in the bottom of third.
Jake Lane and Jaxon Spencer each had a hit to lead the Jr. Indians at the plate.
Kai Rendon started the game on the mound for Comanche. He went three innings, gave up two hits, one earned run and struck out two. Mason Hinsley threw the final inning, giving up no hits, one walk and striking out three.

Cache MS 0
The Jr. Indians’ bat woke up in the second game as they ended the game by run-rule in the third.
Comanche had put up two runs each in the first and second inning before putting the game away with a six-run third inning.
Kai Rendon went 2-for-2 with a double and drove in three runs to lead the Jr. Indians. Jake Lane, Mason Hinsley, Paxton Jones and Ayden Doyle had a hit each with Lane, Jones and Doyle getting an RBI each.
Tucker Fitzpatrick was the winning pitcher. He gave up one hit and struck out four in two innings of work.
Friday
Comanche MS 4
Anadarko 1
The Jr. Indians scored a run each in the second, third, fourth and fifth innings to get the win. Anadarko got its lone run in the bottom of the fourth.
Jake Lane, Kai Rendon, Jaxson Spencer and Blayn Hinsley each had a hit with Rendon getting a double.
Mason Hinsley threw a complete game, tossing all five innings while giving up two hits and one earned run. He struck out five and walked two.
Comanche MS 2
MacArthur MS - JV 0
The Jr. Indians scored both runs in the top of the first and then held on for the rest of the way to get the win.
Kai Rendon and Mason Hinsley drove in a run each in the inning to give Comanche the early lead.
Jake Lane, Jaxon Spencer and Blayn Hinsley each had a hit to join Rendon and Mason Hinsley.
Three Jr. Indians’ pitchers combined to get the win with Tucker Fitzpatrick getting credit for the win. He went 1.2 innings with two hits, no earned runs, a strikeout and a walk.
Saturday
Comanche MS 14
Lawton Tomlinson 1
The Jr. Indians struck early, scoring five runs in the top of the first inning on their way to the win. Tomlinson would get a run back in the bottom half of the inning, but the Jr. Indians held them from that point on.
Comanche added two runs in the third before exploding for seven runs in the fourth to put the game away for good.
Mason Hinsley, Kaden Adams and Paxton Jones drove in two runs each to pace the Jr. Indians. Paxton and Kai Rendon had doubles in the game.
Jake Lane was the winning pitcher, giving up one earned run. He surrendered no hits and struck out one.
Bryson Vansickle closed out the game, tossing three innings and striking out seven on two hits.

Comanche took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third, but Altus would answer with two runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead and the win.
Kai Rendon, Jaxon Spencer and Kagen White each had a hit for Comanche.
