Comanche baseball celebrated its seniors last Tuesday with a 4-1 win over visiting Dickson. It would be the last game of the regular season, with games against Davis and Petrolia, Texas, cancelled due to wet conditions.
The regional tournament is scheduled to begin this Thursday at Washington. The Indians (12-14) will play Alva (15-15) at 11 a.m. and then play host Washington (19-9) at 4 p.m. in the double-elimination tournament.
Against Dickson, the Indians surrendered a run in the top of the first inning to fall behind 1-0, but it would not last long as Comanche answered with two runs in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead and then added a run each in the fourth and fifth innings to seal the win.
In the first inning, Levi Slovak drew a bases-loaded walk for the first run, followed by a steal of home by Payton Jones for the second run and the lead.
In the fourth, Bryson Goedhart drove in a run on a sacrifice fly and in the fifth, Carson Vansickle picked up an RBI single, scoring Koble Lewis.
Comanche had five hits in the game with Jones going 2-for-2 to lead the team. Cooper Dobbins, Vansickle and Slovak had one hit each.
Vansickle was the winning pitcher, tossing a complete game while giving up three hits, no earned runs and striking out 14.
