Kenneth Truett Powers

Kenneth Truett Powers, a lifelong resident of Comanche who dedicated years to local businesses and his passions, died Friday, June 20, 2025, in Lawton. He was 84.
Born April 11, 1941, in Duncan, Powers was the son of Frank and Lola (Stanley) Powers. He grew up in Comanche, graduating from Comanche High School.
He married Nancy Hollene  Morton on Dec. 4, 1961, in Waurika, a union he often referred to as marrying “the love of his life.” The couple had two sons, Ralph and John.
Kenneth worked at Delbert’s IGA before spending 26 years at Doug Strange Furniture. Beyond his professional life, he was known for his love of family and friends and his devotion to his church. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed playing, watching, and coaching baseball. He was a dedicated supporter of the University of Oklahoma, the Texas Rangers, and the Dallas Cowboys. His musical tastes included gospel, the Beach Boys, and the Statler Brothers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lola Powers, and his brother, Wayne Powers.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Holly Powers of Duncan; his son Ralph Powers of Duncan; his son John Powers and his wife Sheila of Blanchard; his sister-in-law, Mary Riley of Edmond; his granddaughters, Hannah Powers and her fiancé Carson of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Christin Campbell and her husband Carey of Oklahoma City; his great-grandson, John Hitt of Oklahoma City; his cousins, Harris and Patsy Powers of Duncan, and Donna Bernal of Blanchard; and his bonus daughter, Marlene Harris, along with many other family members and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Unity Baptist Church, 1725 Chisholm Dr., Duncan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Comanche Funeral Home in Comanche.
