Sylvia May Parker

August 06, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Sylvia May Parker on June 17, 2025, at the age of 60.
Born on Feb. 14, 1965, in Oklahoma, Sylvia brought warmth, creativity, and a deep love for life into everything she did. She made her home in Plymouth, Mass., where she spent most of her life and raised her beloved daughter, Valerie Gavoni Facchini, before returning to Comanche in 2009 with her husband, Gary Hillier of Quincy, Mass.
A true creative spirit, Sylvia was an enthusiastic hobbyist—whether cross-stitching, scrapbooking, gardening, or decorating cakes. She adored all things handmade and found joy in adding beauty and meaning to the everyday. A lifelong animal lover and deeply rooted in her faith, she lived with kindness, intention, and heart. Sylvia had a deep love of music, especially Christian rock, and cherished her favorite band, Third Day.
She is survived by her daughter, Valerie Gavoni Facchini, and son-in-law, Dominic Facchini, both of Plymouth, Mass. her mother, Alice Nora Parker of Rush Springs; and her brother, William (Billy) Parker of Carver, Mass. She is also survived by her niece, Elizabeth Parker of Plymouth, Mass, and Elizabeth’s children, Aubrey and Kenneth Coyne; Tammy Christianson, mother of Elizabeth; and her stepchildren, Gary Hillier of Stewartsville, N.J.; Daley Kunze of Midlothian, Va.; and Paige Hillier of Midlothian, Va.
Sylvia was predeceased by her father, George Parker, who passed just weeks before her.
A private memorial will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Sylvia’s memory by donating to a local animal shelter—or by creating something with your hands and sharing it with someone you love, just as she always did.
