Comanche to host three-way scrimmage

The Comanche football team will host Healdton and Crooked Oak today (Thursday) for a three-way football scrimmage at 6 p.m.

The format will feature 12 consecutive plays by one offense against another team’s defense and then rotate. The starters will go first (rounds 1-6) and second string will go next (rounds 7-12).

The scrimmage schedule for starters includes:

n Comanche offense vs. Healdton defense

n Healdton offense vs. Crooked Oak defense

n Crooked Oak offense vs. Comanche defense

n Healdton offense vs. Comanche defense

n Crooked Oak offense vs. Healdton defense

n Comanche offense vs. Crooked Oak defense

The second string will then follow the same schedule

Comanche coach Gary Robinson said he is looking forward to the scrimmage as his team has been having good practices.

“Everything’s going really well, we’ve had some great practices,” Robinson said. “The offensive line is looking really good. It is looking like the best line since I’ve been here.”

The Indians are showing progress on defense as well.

“The defense has bought in a little more this year,” Robinson said. “They are reading their keys and reacting well. The team has been practicing with more passion this year even with the heat. We’ve had to cut some practices short because of the heat, but while we’ve been out there, it hasn’t had an impact on them.”
