Softball season in full swing

The Comanche Lady Indians are off to a 2-5 start on the season. On Monday, they dropped a pair of district games at Dickson. They will return home next Monday and Tuesday, playing district games against Davis (5:30 p.m.) and Lindsay (5 p.m.).
Aug. 18
Dickson 10, Comanche 0
The Lady Comets pounded out 10 hits and scored at least two runs in every inning as they won the district opener.
Comanche was limited to just one hit in the game, a one-out infield single by Bre Gill in the top of the fifth inning that broke up a no-hitter.
Cloey Kinkade took the loss on the mound.
Dickson 9, Comanche 2
In game two of the doubleheader, the Lady Comets broke open a close game with five runs in the top of the fifth to secure the win.
Comanche had cut the lead to 4-2 in the previous inning when Addie Evans scored on an error.
The Lady Indians had also scored on an error in the bottom of the second when Savannah Kelnhofer crossed the plate.
Comanche had three hits in the game with Cloey Kinkade, Cianna O’Connor and Addie Evans getting one each.
Aug. 16
Wayne 9, Comanche 8
Both the Lady Bulldogs and Lady Indians had big innings, but Wayne’s turned out to be a little bit bigger and Wayne held on for the win.
The game was just 2.5 innings, but there was plenty of action.
Comanche took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Raelee Ellis scored on a wild pitch and Cassidy Smith, who had earlier doubled, scored on an error.
The lead didn’t last long, however, as Wayne answered with seven runs in the bottom half of the inning, including a grand slam, to take the lead.
The Lady Indians fought back in the top of the second with six runs, including a two-run double by Katelynn Cole, to retake the lead at 8-7.
Wayne would retake the lead for good with two runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Raelee Ellis and Cassidy Smith went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI. Cole, Addie Evans, Emily Clark and Savannah Kelnhofer all had hits.
Cole took the loss on the mound.
Comanche 4, Alex 3
The Lady Indians held off a Lady Longhorn comeback attempt to pick up their second win of the season.
Comanche scored two runs each in the first and third innings to take a 4-0 advantage before surrendering three runs in the fifth and final inning to hold on for the win.
Raelee Ellis opened the game with a double and came home on an RBI single by Cassidy Smith. Smith would later steal home for the second run of the inning.
In the bottom of the third, Cianna O’Connor doubled home Bre Gill with Smith also coming home to score on the throw.
Comanche had four hits in the game with Ellis, Smith, O’Connor and Addie Evans getting one each.
Cloey Kinkade was the winning pitcher, surrendering one earned run while striking out seven.
Aug.15
Comanche 3, Okarche 2
The Lady Indians gave head coach Kaytlin Morrow her first win as a high school coach as they held off the Lady Warriors.
Comanche had built a 3-0 lead through four innings, scoring a run each in the first, third and fourth innings, before Okarche scored twice in their final at-bat to make the game close.
The Lady Indians had just four hits in the game, but made the most of them. Bre Gill tripled and scored. Cianna O’Connor had an RBI and Raylee Ellis and Kaitlyn Cole each had a hit and scored.
Cloey Kinkade picked up the win on the mound, surrendering two earned runs with six hits. She struck out five and walked none.

Comanche 1
Fort Cobb-Broxton scored six runs in the fourth inning to pull away for the win.
Fort Cobb-Broxton had scored two runs in the first to take the lead before Comanche got one run back in the bottom half of the inning when Cianna O’Connor drove in Raelee Ellis with an RBI single.
Katelynn Cole and Savanna Kelnhofer each had a hit.
Aug. 12
Elgin 8, Comanche 0
Elgin pounded out 10 hits and limited Comanche to two to record a shutout.
The Lady Owls scored two runs in the first, three runs in the second and three more in the fourth.
Cassidy Smith and Cianna O’Connor each had a hit to lead Comanche at the plate.
Cloey Kinkade took the loss on the mound.
