Miss Comanche makes return

The Miss Comanche pageant is returning for the first time since 2021, and this year’s competition is raising money for the Comanche Middle School (CMS) cheer team. The pageant will take place Saturday at 4 p.m. in the middle school cafeteria, with doors opening at 3:30 p.m. Admission is $5.

Mystik Palmer was the last title holder in 2021. Organizer Dee Carrio is new to the Comanche community and is bringing new ideas to the pageant, which caused some initial hesitation. In a change from past years, the event will include king divisions and has secured 25 entries. “I was happy to add King divisions this year,” Carrio said.

This year’s titles are Little Mr. Comanche, Little Miss Comanche, Jr. Miss Comanche, Mr. Comanche and Miss Comanche. Contestants will compete in three onstage categories: question and answer, spirit wear and formal wear. Awards will also be given for Mr. and Miss Congeniality and Mr. and Miss Photogenic. The audience can cast monetary votes for the People’s Choice winner, who will receive 50% of the money collected.

All concessions proceeds will benefit the CMS booster club.

The Comanche pageant committee consists of chairperson and director Dee Carrio, Jana Hinsley, Brooklyn Blair, Kristin Norman, Laura Lewis and Bridgett Chasteen.
