Rosalie Doreen McClennen
July 16, 2026
Rosalie Doreen McClennen, age 88, of Comanche OK, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026, surrounded by her family at Meridian Nursing Home in Meridian Oklahoma.
To honor Rosalie's wishes, there will be no formal funeral services and instead, the family is planning a private, intimate observance in Maine to celebrate her life.
Rosalie was born on February 9, 1938, in Calais, Maine, to Arnold L. Guptill and Phyllis E. Guptill. She grew up living and playing on the coast with her brother, Vaughn Allen Guptill in Lubec, Maine. She spent many days as a child and young adult watching and helping her family work at the local sardine company factory, canning sardines. In 1954, Rosalie met her husband, Ronald McClennen while he was stationed in Quoddyhead, Maine, in active duty for the Coast Guard. They were married in 1956 at Christian Temple Church of Christ in Lubec. They lived in Maine until 1958, spent time briefly in Perryton Texas, until they returned to Comanche OK where they have lived since 1960. They had two children, Randy and Jo Lynn and three grand-children, Cody, Emily, and Aubree. She spent most of her years after coming to Oklahoma caring for her children and grand-children at home. She worked in retail after her children were grown for several years. She enjoyed reading, shopping, dancing, travelling on cruises, going to the casino with her best friend Jean, and spending time with her grandbabies and great-grandbabies.
She is preceded in death by her father, Arnold L Guptill; her mother, Phyllis E Guptill; her brother Vaughn Allen Guptill; her half-brother William Fickett; her son Randy McClennen; and her beloved dog Sophie.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald McClennen, her daughter, Jo Lynn, her three grand-children, Cody Bishop, Emily Schrick, and Aubree Berry, as well as four great-grandchildren Pria Bishop, Nova Bishop, August Schrick, and Weston Schrick.
The family wishes to extend our sincerest thanks to the staff at Meridian Nursing home, the staff of CompleteOK Home Health & Hospice, as well as the Comanche Funeral Home.
