Betty June "BJ" Archer

Betty June “BJ” Archer passed away early Thursday morning, Feb. 18, 2021, in Meridian Nursing Home in Comanche  at the age of 92.  Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021, at Ray of Hope Church with Pastor Mike McCord officiating with assistance from Brother Billy Morgan, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.  

B J was born on June 8, 1928 to B B and Eddie Alice(Booker) Archer in Caddo, OK in Bryan County.

She graduated from Wagoner High School. BJ married Billy Ted Cox on Sept. 14, 1945 in Wagoner To this union five children were born, three boys and two girls. BJ started refining her artist skills early in life. She became a renowned  oil and water color artist. Besides being a homemaker, BJ expanded her horizon to include quality museum style frame making , poetry and eventually began teaching private painting lessons.

BJ is survived by two sons, Larry Cox and his wife Maria, Carney; Tommy Cox and his wife Sandy, of Duncan; one daughter, Dottie Williams and her husband Danny, of Duncan.

BJ is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Billy Bob Cox; one daughter, Linda Doede; and one brother, Eugene Archer

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Alzheimer’s  Association.
