Annual citywide cleanup to be held this Saturday

March 24, 2021

In partnership with Keep Oklahoma Beautiful and The Great American Cleanup, the City of Comanche will be hosting its annual citywide cleanup and student trash off, March 27.

Student organizations will be competing for cash prizes and bragging rights. All student organizations are encouraged to participate. There will also be cleanup opportunities at the cemetery, Jackson Park and Comanche Lake.

Volunteers are needed to pick up trash, artificial flowers and limbs in order to get the city looking amazing for spring.

For those with a green thumb, people are needed to clean out flower beds and plant flowers at Centennial Park and Comanche Lake.

The city will be collecting old appliances, scrap metal, bulk trash from garage and yard cleanouts (no kitchen trash).

The city will also be accepting used paint for recycling. The collection event will be held on East Main but there will be students located throughout the city and at the lake to provide information and direction. Students providing information and direction will be wearing sky blue t-shirts.

City manager Chuck Ralls said to remember this is a City of Comanche cleanup event.

“We support cleanup events throughout the county but this event is to improve our city,” Ralls said. “I would like to thank our sponsors for this event including Waste Connections, Comanche Seed and Grain, Keep Oklahoma Beautiful, ODOT and Oklahoma DEQ.”
