Cross country gets state preview

The Comanche girls placed sixth and the boys third at the Edmond Pre-State Cross Country Meet last Saturday.

The Lady Indians finished just two points behind Bethel (162-160) for fifth place. Regent Prep took first with 39 points.

Brilee Combs and Jaylee Miller were the top finishers for the Lady Indians. Combs finished 23rd overall with a time of 13:50.82 and Miller was 24th with a time of 13:51.31 over the two-mile course.

Karsynn Bowles and Jillian Evans were close behind in 34th and 35th place, respectively. Bowles had a time of 14:26.64 and Evans had a time of 14:27.90.

Kynli Morris rounded out the scorers for Comanche, finishing 93rd overall with a time of 16:45.77. Sarai Alvarez was 123rd with a time of 19:36.08.

In boys competition, the Indians finished with 132 points, just two points behind second place Meeker with 130 points. Rejoice Christian won the meet with a score of 121.

Landon Ellis finished third overall in the 5k run, finishing with a time of 17:21.37. Brycen Lassley was the second-highest placing freshman as he finished 15th with a time of 18:59.80. Koble Lewis was 17th with a time of 19:09.54 and Noah Nichols was 31st with a time of 19:49.95.

Jaxson Billingsley rounded out Comanche scoring with an 89th place finish (21:55.09).

Hunter Lassley was 98th (22:27.72), Gage Jensen was 109th (23:27.55), and Owen Bigford was 119th (24:01.89).
