Car accident leads to arrest

A two-car accident in Meridian led to a felony arrest of a Duncan man last Tuesday when he was allegedly under the influence.

According to the court report, Bobby Craig Curtis, 52, was traveling in his pickup truck on Oliver Road east of Old Highway 81 when he hit the car of Rosa Lee Tidwell, 91, of Comanche.

After the accident, both Tidwell and a witness to the accident said Curtis tried to drive off, but the truck was inoperable. According to the report, Curtis refused or delayed taking a field sobriety test several times before finally agreeing to take the test. According to the report, Curtis failed several of the individual tests.

Besides being charged with being under the influence, Curtis was charged with driving with license revoked, failure to maintain insurance and failure to pay taxes due state.

Tidwell was taken by ambulance to Duncan Regional Hospital where she was treated for a severe wrist injury and other minor scrapes and bruises.
