Willie Chad Dunn of Comanche passed away with family by his side on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at the age of 85. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, Oct. 18 from 5 - 8 p.m. Interment will be Saturday, October 22nd Ochiltree County Cemetery in Perryton, Texas.

Chad was born on May 31, 1937, to Ester Earl and Johna Mae (Pickett) Dunn in Duncan. He graduated from Comanche High School and then attended Cameron College in Lawton. Before starting his career in the oilfield, he served in the Army Reserves and spent summers working on a harvest crew.

Chad worked for Halliburton for 32 years. During his tenure he held various positions and had the opportunity to live and work in numerous places across the US, developing long-lasting friendships along the way. His life and career came full circle when he returned to his homeland of Oklahoma where it all began. After retiring, he farmed and raised cattle in the family home place. In his travels with Halliburton, he met the love of his life, Shirley Jean Beard in Perryton, Texas. They were married for 52 years.

Throughout his life, Chad was continuously active in Freemasonry and its affiliate organizations. He was a member of Ochiltree Lodge No. 910 in Perryton for 55 years. He completed his 32nd Degree in 1974 at Utah Scottish Rite in Salt Lake City and became an El Kalah Temple Shriner in 1975. He was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Duncan for 31 years and was active in youth organizations Job’s Daughters and Rainbow Girls.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Milton 'Sam' Dunn.

Chad is survived by his wife, Shirley, of the home; daughter Stacey Ann and husband Bill Fiddler, New York City; step-daughter Deborah Jean Lang and husband Cliff of Perryton, Texas; 5 grandchildren: Brandy Lee Crawford, Pauline Nicole Torres, Alicia Faye Hero, Kimberly Dawn Robison and Odette Beatrice Fiddler; 4 great-grandchildren: Trista Nicole Crawford; Olivia Jolee, Paloma Jeanine and Daniel Joseph Torres.

He is also survived by his sister Saundra Thompson, Amarillo, TX; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
