Returning for its fifth season at Comanche First Baptist Church, Christmas Village 2023 will offer fun activities for making family holiday memories. The event will be from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m., Dec. 4-8.

According to Pastor Mark Hall, the traditional buildings will all be there, plus several new features. “We have added numerous new family photo spots, as well as a S’mores Station and a Snowball (snow-cone) Station,” Hall said.

Also new and a centerpiece of the village is the clock tower, 15 feet tall with working clocks on all four sides and decorated for a photo opportunity

“We are also bringing back an old favorite from previous years,” he said. “The sleigh photo spot is back and is a great location for family or group Christmas photos.”

Another new feature, he said, is a Village Library where children can hear stories and receive a free coloring book. Many new decorations outside will help light up the area.

“We have found that the children love the cookie decorating and painting Christmas ornaments,” Hall said.

He added that the Meridian Nursing Home has been blessed with the many Christmas cards the children write in the Post Office, and the train for the children to ride is a big hit as well.

More opportunities for fun in the Village include the Candle Shoppe where children can make a Christmas candle, the Movie Theater with short Christmas cartoons and popcorn, the Missions Travel Agency where visitors learn about places around the world and what missionaries are doing there, and the Co-Co Shoppe offering hot chocolate, apple cider and coffee.

Music will play a big part each evening, with choirs, drama teams, and other musical events. A list of these will be posted at the beginning of the Village.

“I am excited this year for our fifth Christmas Village,” Hall said. “It has grown every year and yet we have people every year who say they didn’t know anything about it. We pray everyone in this area will come out and share our love for this season.
