Betty Lou (Starnes) Skeen
Betty Lou (Starnes) Skeen, age 85, a lifelong of this community, peacefully passed away on Thursday evening, Jan. 18, 2024 at her home, with her family at her side. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 11 a.m. at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Dixie Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Viewing will be Monday from 9 a.m. - 6:30 p.m., and the family will be receiving friends from 5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m..
Betty was born Jan. 31, 1938 in Durant. She and Billy Skeen were united in marriage on March 10, 1952 in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was homemaker most all of her life. Betty loved to go camping with her grandchildren at the lake, she was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She also loved to read her Bible, and going to church. She was a member of the Living Faith Tabernacle. She loved her pets, and over the years she had many different dogs. Her last pet was her beloved dog, Romeo.
Survivors include her children Elmer Skeen and wife Annette, Stacy Skeen and wife Jayme, Billie Gayle Womack, Patsy Lee Ellis, and Donna Sherrill and husband Rocky. Also, one sister, Lois Thompson, 22 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Skeen; her mother Nettie Sessums , a brother, Frank McClearly, her daughter, Yvette Lou Skeen, and a grandson, Eddie Ray Harris.
Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
